Breaking Stigmas: Big Dogs Deserve to Look Cute Too
Marta SzelestShare
When most people picture a cute dog in pajamas or a polka-dot bandana, they often imagine a small, fluffy pup that fits in a purse — not a 90-pound bully breed with a blocky head and a barrel chest. But at Bully Love Boutique, we’re on a mission to change that perception — because big dogs deserve to look cute too.
The Stigma Around Big Dogs, Especially Bully Breeds
Here in Ontario, where we’re proudly based, the stigma against large dogs — especially bully breeds like American Bullies, Staffordshire Terriers, and Pitbull-type dogs — runs deep. Thanks to breed-specific legislation (BSL), dogs are often judged not by their behavior, but by the shape of their heads or the width of their chests. This kind of profiling creates unnecessary fear, discrimination, and isolation for responsible dog owners and their beloved companions.
Big dogs, and especially bull breeds, are too often labeled as aggressive or dangerous — when in reality, they are loyal, loving, goofy, and incredibly gentle. Unfortunately, the stigma doesn’t stop at public perception. It extends into the pet industry itself.
A Lack of Style Options for Big, Beautiful Dogs
As large dog owners ourselves, we know firsthand how hard it is to find accessories for big dogs that are both functional and stylish. Pet stores are filled with cute pajamas, trendy bandanas, and fashionable collars — but almost always in sizes meant for small and medium breeds. Even when we found something labeled “XL,” it rarely fit right — too tight in the chest, too loose at the waist, and nothing that actually accounted for the unique body structure of a bully breed.
We were constantly searching for dog pajamas for large breeds, durable dog collars for big dogs, and bandanas that fit over our dogs’ thick necks and big heads. The options were limited, the sizing was inconsistent, and the style just wasn’t there.
Why We Started Bully Love Boutique
We didn’t plan to start a business — we were just dog moms struggling to find cute and comfortable gear that actually fit our pups. But after one too many frustrating shopping experiences, we decided to create what we couldn’t find.
That’s how Bully Love Boutique was born — out of love, necessity, and a desire to represent dogs like ours. From day one, we’ve focused on size-inclusive dog apparel designed specifically for large breed dogs with wide chests, thick necks, and big personalities.
Responsible Dog Owners Deserve Better
As responsible large dog owners, we know how important it is to have products that are safe, durable, and made with love. We also believe there’s no reason your dog can’t look adorable while wearing them. That’s why we’ve created collections that include:
- XL and XXL dog bandanas made for wider necks and broader chests
- Heavy-duty leashes and collars that are tough, stylish, and secure
- Cozy dog pajamas and sweaters that actually fit large breed proportions
- Matching dog and human sets — because we’re proud dog moms, and we want to look cute too
Everything we design is a celebration of big dogs and the people who love them — unapologetically and joyfully.
Let’s End the Bias, One Outfit at a Time
Every item we sell tells a story — not just about fashion, but about acceptance, representation, and love for misunderstood breeds. We’re proud to be part of a community that’s rewriting the narrative for big dogs, especially those unfairly judged because of their appearance.
So go ahead — dress your big dog in that watermelon-print hoodie. Rock the matching bandana set. Celebrate who they are, proudly and publicly. Because at Bully Love Boutique, we believe one thing above all else:
Cute is for every size.
